Comfort Complaints
Homeowner had comfort complaints in the upstairs of the home which was finished after the home was built. Major insulation, air barrier, and duct sealing issues. After work was done, power bills were decreased and comfort was increased.
Closed Crawl Space
This closed crawl space system includes a Honeywell dehumidification system with a wireless monitoring system, 10 mil thick ground cover vapor barrier turned up and fastened on walls and piers, and closed cell spray foam applied on the crawl space walls.
1860
House was originally built in the 1860's and has been added onto twice. Insulation and air barriers however needed major work. Attic presented some unique challenges, solved through building science.
Hidden Insulation Issues
This house had poorly installed batt insulation in the attic which was allowing the attic to directly communicate with the home. For insulation to work properly it must be in contact with surface it intends to insulate. Insulation must be in contact with an air barrier to work effectively.
Crawl space solution
Crawl space had substantial moisture issues. Solution was to add a 100% coverage vapor barrier with a dehumidifier. Sealed off foundation vents and other penetrations through crawlspace wall and floor. Sealed duct work and added new R-19 floor insulation.
Energy Remodel
This home had extensive work performed concerning energy, comfort, and durability issues. A new heating and cooling system was installed, new attic insulation, new crawl space insulation, new ground cover vapor barrier, air sealing, new siding on the whole house, and gutters installed
Insulation needed
This house had numerous issues with the building envelope along with little insulation. Improving the building envelope and adding insulation has proven to be the keys to comfort and efficiency on this project
